Music for the Apocalypse

They say
the revolution
will not be televised

we know now
that it will be
on the Net

no trumpet blast
is necessary

we were
forewarned
by Dylan

and now
the chatter
of the keyboard

is the accompaniment
to Decay...

The Pumphouse

Sunlight behind the chimney of the Pumphouse, Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand

Cross with Bling

Sun sparkles on a cross, with acknowledgement to artist Linda Colleen Matthews

Surf's Up

I love to read
the internet at night

riding the edge
of a wave
so vast

knowledge streams
bits fly by

and the broadband
plays a merry tune

while Rome burns.

Waipu Cove

Pohutakawa tree at the south end of Waipu Cove, Northland, New Zealand

Connecting the Dots

Across the ocean

of time and space

the electric arteries

pulse and throb

Caught in a net

fish-like people

swim

and blow bubbles

time is collapsed

and distance

a friend

the oyster shell

has opened

and the pearl glows

yet outside

the sharks’ teeth

are seen

sleepy netizens

must be careful…

Beached

Comfortable, calm,
the inner storm no more

this piece of flotsam's
been tossed
on a sandy shore

the breaking waves
that brought me here
run backwards to the sea

saying their goodbyes
with a little hiss

and me,
I sit here and say:-
I didn't know
that life could be like this!

The Naked Rain

Water fell
from the sky

missed me
and soaked into
the grateful earth

protection
should not be
taken for granted

even houses
can dissolve
into the naked rain.
